Thank you Aiden for becoming a member of the Maker Space!

Please feel free to reach out to me or another board member to discuss your skills to help the Maker Space.

As volunteers, we have varying demands on our time. However, if one board member can't assist you at the moment, one of us can connect you with a board member available for collaboration.

Welcome Aiden!

Hi All,

I've just joined the space. My name is Aiden and I've been involved in makerspaces in the Lower Mainland and on the Island in the past. My wife and I moved to the Kamloops region recently and I just discovered the space a couple weeks ago. I work two-and-two rotations, more or less, and will have plenty of time available on an intermittent basis.

I'm primarily interested in making things for our new home, which is remote and off-grid, but also anticipate indulging in some quirky artistic projects using the CNC tooling primarily. I would love to arrange to meet with an experienced member to learn how to use the laser and router when someone has the time. I'm currently doing a gasfitter course up at TRU, and am generally free weekends and afternoons.

Also, because the Space is a volunteer organization and I believe in giving back, I'd like to offer my expertise and professional connections in the following area: boilers. I am a licensed 3rd class power engineer and work for an 'A' Boiler contractor/Gas contractor. I primarily work on steam systems, but have a decent amount of experience with hydronics and hot-water boilers. I can also get parts for cheap/free in some cases as well (our company has a large inventory of salvaged/NOS parts). I understand that one of the members here has taken ownership of the cantankerous heating system, and I'd love to meet to discuss what the space needs. As the heating season draws to a close, this is a good time to start planning what needs to be replaced when the system can be taken out of service without inconveniencing anyone.

Looking forwards to meeting you all, from time to time,

Aiden
