CNC Avenue

Cnc router computer
Torsten Rothbart

I went in last night to set up the cnc software on the beefiest/newest looking tower, but it has Ubuntu installed.

There's a windows 7 key on the top, if anyone more competent with computers feels up to making an install USB and replacing Ubuntu, I'd be very grateful. If not I'll probably be able to do it next week.

Also, if anyone has an objection to me removing Ubuntu from that tower, speak now or forever hold your peace.

If I can beat you to it I will set up dual boot. If not fly at it. I am running CAT6 through the space and will do a drop there. Does the machine interface with USB ot ethernet?

Grant Fraser

For $50 we could have a windows 11 machine. Windows 7 would be a security risk.

Sure, if someone wants to buy another computer then I'm happy to use whatever.

I'm not sure how much we need to worry about security concerns for a computer that doesnt have any sensitive data on it, and doesn't actually need to be connected to the network

Also, what version of windows are the laser computer and MMS computer running? I know the laser can't be newer than 10

Nicholas Adams

I am not sure. I think everything was windows 10 or linux. We have a number of Windows licences from Tech Soup.

Torsten Rothbart

Perfect, If we've got windows licenses through tech soup we can just use one of those keys to install windows 11
