After working on and off on this for the last couple of months and getting a call back from John's Jukes that they do not have a carriage available, regretfully I am throwing the towel in on this one. Likewise the power supply is doing weird things on the +5 regulator. I think it needs a 7805 replaced or the mica insulator is damaged.

The unit is currently for sale for the price of a monthly membership. All inquiries welcome and tell your friends.

So I tidied up all the wiring and repaired a few modifications previously made like a disconnected doorswitch. It looks a lot better inside.

The amplifier board needs four new 100K potentiometers as all four are broken. Fairly easy stuff to track down. The other is why the mains fuse was bypassed. I can see signs of several mosfets being changed but right now there's a 2 ohm resistance across the main transformer winding. It may just be a normal thing but I need to verify it's been wired for 110V service as it's a multitap unit for international service.
THAT however is going to be fun. It hides in the base of the cabinet and so far I've been unable to determine how you reach that compartment. There's no panels or doors.

I was in Vancouver last weekend and the SPCA second hand store at the end of Broadway and Alma had a replacement Michael Jackson 45 for a dollar.
I'll be in tonight to resume rewiring the machine. Time to go a bit nutty with zip ties!

The entire cabinet seems to be lit by one preheat fluorescent tube. There is not much I can do to replace it as it illuminates the selections but cycling RGB LED's can probably be added to the clear acrylic that lets you look in at the record player. I do believe the cabinet has one switched accessory outlet inside which is perfect for powering it.

I can't think of anyone in town who deals in jukeboxes. Most places only do arcade machines and I doubt the antique store behind the Canco is going to be /too/ interested.

Looks like a huge challenge, looking forward to seeing more of this! Records are really popular now, maybe a local business would pick it up?

What's your thoughts on jazzing it up a little? Put some multicolored LED's in it and some snazzy laser engraved wood or acrylic paneling?

This was a...kinda unexpected donation to the space. Very late 70's 45rpm jukebox that fits something like 80 records. Apparently a friend was moving and it was left here. I have advised the donatee that in future large items like this need to be discussed and approved. By the sounds of it there was not a lot of interest so I've taken this on while I try to figure out where the hell to relocate it.

We got it in while it was rather heavily disassembled and I spent last night putting it back together to see if it was even complete. So we have the cabinet, the top lid, all the electronics, the trim pieces, the carousel rack and all the records which are a bit battered but all still look okay, plus piles of fuses, all the service documentation, an old official NSM oiling kit and five cents in pennies. :@)
Electrically it's been battered a bit, but I have yet to finish sorting the wiring out. There appears to be two broken volume potentiometers and a blown mains fuse wrapped in the foil wrapping form a pack of cigarettes......
Mechanically there's a kinda major issue. The selection and playback carriage is missing. It did not come with the machine and the donatee didn't seem to know what it was or where it might be.

I know about nobody who does jukeboxes because it's even more specialty than arcade hardware, plus more expensive.
I'm going to come in next week to finish rewiring the machine and then start nailing down any bugs in the electronics. There's a place in Burnaby called John's Jukes that is currently hunting down a replacement carriage, albeit for at least $250. When this is done or if this is done I almost certainly do not have space for it, so it will be up for grabs if anyone changes their minds. This thread is mainly a placeholder for me as I work on it, because why not.
