Infrastucture

The mitre saw bench has been elevated so that the entire work surface is at the level of the saw's table. There is also a hinged flip-up board that can bridge the gap across the benches (please only flip up when needed, as to not block our external door)

This gives us just under 19ft of continuous bench length. There will still need to be a little tweaking and break-in to level out any bumps between the benches, which I'll be doing over the next few weeks, along with bolting the mitre saw to the bench, and framing in more supports for the benches.

I also moved the electronics testing rack over so that the left door could be used to get into the shop, so that people aren't entering directly into the table saw's rails. The auto-close mechanism was disconnected so we can leave the door open and allow a little more passive heat into the shop until we finish running the furnace ducts.

The 2nd bench has now been mounted to the wall beside the outside door, at the height of the mitre saw's table. I have also installed a hinged piece that can swing up to bridge the gap between the benches when cutting intermediate length pieces. This week I will finish the fine adjustments to the swingtop, and build a sliding latch to secure the bench at the height of the mitre saw.

Next jobs in the woodshop will be:

- deciding where to mount the yellow shelving (potentially the left wall over the jointer)

-splitting the mitre saw bench and re-elevating the open section so that it also sits at the height of the saw's table.

-installing wall mounts for the Makita cordless tools and battery chargers

-sorting (and potentially taking an inventory of) all of the remain loose tools and consumables, and sorting them into our shelving space.

Hello all,

I believe it had been discussed before to build some temporary racking to store the live edge birch off of the floor, and that this would not be "wood storage" as the material would be going towards projects/workshops to fundraise for the space.

That has been done, above the clamp rack and peg boards. The wood has a slight wobble, but wants to rest against the wall and not tip forward. I might move the rightmost bracket over to the left, so that there isn't any suspended load over the door.

I'll be working Saturday, but Sunday I will be in the Space to install the 2nd MDF bench on the far wall of the woodshop, lower the mitre saw bench a few inches, and potentially put up a shelf for the cleaning supplies next to the bathroom.
