The attendance needs to have last names attached to all names, so for example: Jonathan that was in attendance is not confused with the Jonathan that is/was a board member

Member Meeting Minutes 06 October 2022

Is the meeting still on tonight? I tried using last month's link just in case. Is it not 18:00-19:30?

Two things to bring up:

1) Can we hang the spare laser tube? I think we need for people to see it with their own eyes. It's a question that comes up often. If a room full of people can witness the spare tube then the question will die down for awhile.

2) Can someone reduce the file size of the graphics on the main web page? The graphics load slowly. I don't know if we pay for bandwidth.

I took some updated photos of the makerspace a few months ago. They are on the shared google drive. i also stole some pics form the facebook page and put them in the same album.

There are some (admittedly older) photos on the lounge lizard that act as a screen saver slide show, maybe that could be updated and used?

Thanks to Kyle for selling me on the Makerspace at the Farmer's Market!

I've signed up for a membership, completed the online courses, and look forward to attending the meeting.

Good idea. I don’t have the time to put anything together anytime soon.

I would like to request a slide show. Is there anyone who can put together a slide show to use at events? Moving pictures would keep people interested.

Brad is away so Kyle will be chairing this meeting

TREASURERS REPORT:

• still in dire need of more money
• new member uptick.

NEW BUSINESS:

• laser cutter is down. thermister on power supply failed. Likely overheated from dust inundation. new parts have been ordered. Spare power supply in the office is not a direct replacement, Grant is looking into solutions to make it work
• stair handrail incident and repair. thank you James for fixing
• side fence incident > responsibility of landlord. information has been forwarded
• slide show for events > there is a photo album on the makerspace google drive that would be a good place to start

• wood shop dust collection upgrade needed. The ducting is collapsing.
• door upgrades. Fab shop and Wood Shop door are vulnerable and should be replaced/ new hardware installed
• cleaning. It continues to be a small group of volunteers cleaning up and maintaining the building. These volunteers are getting burnt out and the makerspace's cleanliness is suffering as a result. ALL members need to take part in cleaning.
• display spare laser tube somewhere so people know if we have one or not.
• website optimization > current site is slow to load. can we reduce graphic size to speed loading?
• November shabang / cabaret > Jyelle
• Halloween. we are not doing the haunted courthouse but could be capitalize the holiday in some way? Themed hacknight? costume making party?
• TRU membership incentives? should we offer a TRU student Discount? The TRU Student Union may also be able to work to offset costs of such a discount. We should also see about getting in contact with the TRU makerspace.
