Worktable Rebuild

I want to replace the chewed up worktop and wobbly legs on our table saw outfeed. I found a beautiful slab of fir for the frame over the weekend, and we have just the right sized sheet of plyform in our sheet goods to fit a new top. I'm thinking I'd prep the pieces on Saturday and assemble them on Sunday this weekend. That will involve removing the table and all the stored items underneath (a good time to do a little spring cleaning), and move the saw/router table out of the way + shut off the breaker to move the electrical boxes. That might take an hour or two, and I will try to get it done before noon on Sunday.

If you have any questions or suggestions about the design, or where the two new vises for the bench should go, stop by for Hack Night tomorrow.

The table is done. Well, a few small touches are needed, but its a table. The laminate on top is very durable, but please take care when cutting, sanding, or dragging tools across it. It is not non-stick, and any glue left on it will be very hard to remove, paper towels, a garbage bag, or a scrap piece of wood underneath a project can save a lot of cleanup, and keep the worktop looking beautiful for years to come.

A big thank you to Tim for helping me assemble this, and to Graham for the cleanup of the underside of the bench.

Now that its in, I'll hold another workshop orientation on this Saturday, 12-4. If you have any questions about the shop, have any tools you want to use and don't know where to start, or just want to see what all we can do in here, come on down!
