3D Printer Heatbed Problem
Author Last Post

Forgot to mention that the heatbed doesn't like to go above 100c. So, when printing with ABS, make sure your filament bed temp is set for 100c for all layers.

Other filaments with bed temps below 100c seem to be OK. 🙂

Finally got the heatbed issue fixed. With help from Nicholas, we removed the heatbed socket from the Rambo board and soldered in wires directly to the board with external plugs. Then added a resistor to the ground circuit and now the heatbed would heat up. Finally had to replace the thermistor on the bed and now the temperature doesn't fluctuate as before.

I have done several prints now with ABS at 100 degree bed temp and no problems at all.

Special thanks to Garrert for the donation of the parts and to Nicholas for his soldering expertise and guidance.

Yep, I have a spare Molex plug like that from the hotend assembly.

And a brand new in package heatbed thermistor.

I posted a list of all the spare parts in a post and can give them all away.

I'll get the parts out to the space when I can, or if someone wants to pick them up from my office during the day its downtown. 285 Victoria St W

Thanks Grant. Would you also maybe have a heatbed thermistor? I think it's on the way out too. I had to tie up the heatbed cable last night to keep the bed temp in line..

I'll take a look through all the parts that just came off my Mk3

I have been having issues with the Prusa heatbed not keeping temps correct and fluctuating all over the place. I thought it might be the thermistor so I started to dig into that. What I found was the wiring harness plug to the heatbead heater at the Rambo board had been arcing and melting. I cleaned it up best as I could and re-attached it. The heatbed now keeps temp correct, but I think that the harness should be replaced or at least the plug at the Rambo end.

The plug is a MOLEX 39530-0002. Does anyone know where to find one in town? I could order it online but freight is horrendous for such a small part..
