Sign Cutting
MIPS

I'm going through my stash of neon bits and I have a blue neon octagon about 14" across that I want to make into a lit sign for the makerspace window. I can supply the neon, high voltage bits, timer and the mounting box but I don't have the materials to shape the inner lettering in neon, so the idea was laser cut the letters, apply an opaque sheet and put red or orange LED's behind that.

These were my two ideas. Ignore they are hexagons. MS Paint doesn't have an octagon tool....

If you wanted to do Hack Nite I would suggest using an online neon font generator. Then the neon sign would have the neon font

Something like this?

Much better. The American spelling of nite would probably be better. The sign would be balanced with 4 letters on top and bottom.

Real 1980's vibe there! Just needs a neon martini glass beside it lol.

But seriously I love that! Goes with the flamingos!

I've got some 1/4" acrylic I can chip in.

A few off cuts that are about 19" x 19" square. And then some larger pieces 24" wide and almost 48" long.

Alright I'll try and bring in the neon on Hack Nite to see if I can get the specs for the footprint.
