Production 3D Printing Job
Garret Hunter

I have an order through the Makerspace to fulfill that requires 3D Printing.

Job Description

  • Operate 2 of the Prusa Printers to print some clips in PETG.
  • This simply requires the completed prints to be removed from the bed, and a new print to be started. The operator should stay in the building until the first layer of the print is completed to ensure that its started.
  • Inspect completed prints for quality control, reject any that are deficient and consult with me for trouble shooting.
  • Part design is completed and the G-code will be provided
  • I'll provide up front assistance in getting the first pairs of prints going and ensure the machine is dialed in.
  • Each print is 11 hours and 15 minutes. 2 print sessions per day are required to meet production goals.
  • A total of 6 print sessions will be required.

Rate

Pay per print session is $25. This is ideal for someone who already intends to be at the space. Actual time spent on active work is going to be about 15 minutes each session. 6 total print sessions = $240

Makerspace Benefits

This should bring about $500 to go directly to Kamloops Makerspace after paying for materials and labour.

Timeline

Full materials arrive this Monday July 4th. If someone wants to get cracking on it I have a half roll of PETG but that will only let one machine run. If there is some additional at the space then we can really get cracking. Production should be completed by July 8th.

Additionally I'd like to thank James Befurt for completing repairs to the Makerspace's printer and Vaughn Warren for agreeing for the use of his machine for this project that will greatly benefit the space.

This job has been filled.

Production complete! 100 individual parts 3D printed!

We hit some snags with a few printers acting up, but managed to pull through by bringing in two extra printers outside of the space. Makerspace's Prusa Mk2.5 that James had refurbished ran like a champ, thanks James!

Shout out to Colin Dick who stepped in to volunteer his personal printer and knocked out some prints.

Finally, a HUGE thanks to Vaughn Warren for running the printers and donating all of his time to the space. The full value of this contract will be going to Kamloops Makerspace!

Vaughn

Yep no problem and happy to help but can we ensure the machine consumables and maintenance is included in my donation and subsequent project funding models?

These in-house projects are a valuable avenue for funding, but we need to ensure they cover the costs of running the machines and keeping them tip top shape for members ready use.

Thanks garret - good one!
