3D Printed RC planes

The designer of this plane released a video today of a collaboration with another RC enthusiast from the UK.
This build is done with laser cut wood pieces and foam board. It does a really good job of showing what's possible with laser cut pieces also. I've seen other builds where they use a combination of laser cut and 3D printed parts, that really takes advantage of each tools strengths and overcomes their weaknesses. Seems like there are a lot of different plans out there if one does a search.

Finally had some time to get printing again a few weeks back, and my son and I did a little assembly over the weekend.

Here is the Makerspace 3D printed RC plane project in progress.

It was printed in mostly PETG, the nose is ABS. Found out after assembly that JB Weld Plastic Bonder 2 part epoxy doesn't affix PET well (it's incredible strong with ABS though!) but there seems to be enough mechanical interface in the joints for the epoxy to make for a strong joint overall. The motor and driver as donated by Terry, hopefully will get the rest of the needed parts soon.

We intend to keep this stored at the Makerspace as a community item, so that others can try it out or get ideas of their own.

A fully 3D printed RC plane (except for motors and a few bits). These planes are typically pretty expensive, and also have a tendency to break a LOT with expensive parts. There is a link for all the thingiverse parts.

He has a later video too where he uses foam and 3D printed wing ribs to make a lot lighter of a plane, I'd been wanting to try this myself so it's cool to see it in action!

Slap some sheets of foam down on the CNC router and use vinyl decals for tape/aesthetics... and you've got an RC plane factory ready to go at the space.

I found these free collections also:

EDIT: oh dannngggg some companies exist now that just sell you plans.
This looks sweet, could be fun to fly it around the river and lake: https://www.eclipson-airplanes.com/modelt
