so there is this shiny clear donations box thingy...and was thinking of making some upgrades to it...think it would be cool if it could sense when something is put in it and the lights give some sort of feedback, like a special light flash...maybe a sound? anywho...there is currently a wifi enabled microcontroller in there (ESP8266) connected to the individually addressable LED strips, so it should be possible to put some sort of sensor in there, (IR? laser trip beam? just a switch with a flap?) and program the controller to do something when the pin is triggered...i am pretty sure this can be done...but is a bit out of my programming scope at the moment...and am just curious if anyone here has experience with such things, and would be willing to help with this project...think it would be really cool, and if you are able to help with this, there may be a surprise gift in it for you ...also be cool to do some custom graphic design/prints to put in the box to make jazzier and to represent the Kamloops Makerspace...
