Lets crank up the stupid to 11.

Dollarama had GE Bright Stiks on the shelf and I proceeded to clean the Aberdeen store out. For the sheer mindlessness I decided to make one of those pixel addressable displays, but larger and stupider. The frame is a sheet of reinforced plywood with an array of 5 x 6 Edison Base light sockets evenly spaced and wired so hot and neutral are available in an X/Y arrangement.

I am calling this stupid because practically all techniques for running an LED array assumes a direct connection to the light source. However in this case we are directly feeding AC power to the array and each light has its own electronic power supply, so graphics by means of rapid refreshing is impossible. Additionally because of the properties of how AC works you cannot operate more than one light through an active intersect without another light errorneously illuminating. Yes I know. I was bored.
Everything operates through an Arduino ProMini linked to matching rows of solid-state relays which apply power to the grid and can address lamps using the below diagram.

It is nearly finished, however there is just some wiring that needs to be complete and there is the more critical issue with I am seriously undereducated in arduino programming. If anyone wished to take a whack at something to test the lights feel free.
