The Lounge

It's getting hot in here...

Vent High/Low operates only the fan in the cooler.

Cool High/low operates the fan as well as the water pump for the swamp cooler.

We can keep the windows closed for the smoke however we cannot operate the swamp cooler as a result because it needs to draft. Open at least two windows.

Thanks for the response Jon! To start the pump do you just turn it to the pump setting?

Also, I think that for the time being, until the smoke clears, we shouldn't be opening any windows

The swamp cooler was dewinterized by me last month and should be ready to use but I believe we are currently above its effective temperature range. You start the pump and it will soak down the medium but that's just hot standing water in the pan with really high temperature air blowing through it. I tried it on Sunday and it made the room worse. I would avoid using it this week until we drop down into the 30's again.

With no air conditioning there is really not a lot we can do except open all the windows at night when it drops into the 30's and run the swamp cooler full-blast until the morning to draft everything out.

If this is the giant metal fan I repaired the last place I saw it was in the kiln room. Have not seen it since then.

As we experience this crazy heatwave, the Makerspace is heating up. Yesterday on the 3rd floor the temp was reading as 38 degrees!! Any strategies for cooling the place down?

I think I got the swamp cooler on yesterday, but was unsure if the water was on or not.

Also, we are missing a large industrial metal fan from the kiln room. We need this fan there for doing firings in the summer. Any clue where it went??
